I was assigned by a young lady to make lighting plan for her newly built condominium within 3 days, “because electricians are coming to work in the flat”. It was in August. Now it’s November, the electricians never came, which in this case is fortunate, as we had plenty of time for planning. As a rule, we do not make a lighting plan without knowing how the apartment will be furnished, since the different types and effects of light should support the function of each room, the habits and needs of the people who live there.
It was so timely to get involved in the design that I could even modify the layout of the partitions and could change the basic kitchen and bathroom designs suggested by the builder. Overall, it has become a pretty, feminine, well-designed apartment with subdued colours but with lots of glass and shiny surface.
I wanted to show the Russian origin of my Client somehow, so I came up with the idea of a custom-made wallpaper with Russian doll pattern, in several variations.
The apartment is expected to be completed in the spring of 2018, but almost every little detail has been worked out, just the realisation remains. In the meantime, we have time to find the right sofa, lamps and other fixtures.
